A Look Inside His Kids’ Rooms From An NHL Player

It sounds like Dustin Byfuglien and his wife Emily Hendry collaborated with designer Alana Chernecki to create beautiful and inspiring spaces for their two children in Winnipeg. The couple wanted to provide their kids with a cozy and creative environment away from their main home in Minnesota. The designer, Alana Chernecki, specializes in crafting functional and organized spaces for children, and she brought her expertise to the project.

For the boys’ room, a combination of blue, grey, and aqua colors were used to add vibrancy to the neutral base. The bed was adorned with a mix of textured throw pillows made from denim, quilted fabric, and linen. A basket with a lid was strategically placed by the bed to offer a stylish storage solution for toys. The room was also adorned with a curated collection of toys in muted tones, displayed atop a dresser to maintain a cohesive palette. Transparent shelves were used to store colorful books, adding a pop of color to a designated reading nook.

In the girls’ bedroom, pops of pink were introduced to complement the neutral base. A woven chandelier added a cute and whimsical touch to the room. The bed was adorned with a rose gold bed frame, featuring a felt swan head above it, along with wall hangings that carried messages of “dream” and “love.”

A touch of glamor was added through a starburst mirror, enhancing a specific vignette in the room. Additionally, two ghost chairs were placed to create a cozy spot for hanging out with friends, playing, or reading books.

Throughout both rooms, the designer aimed to create organized and functional spaces with playful decor elements that reflected the personalities of the children. This project can serve as inspiration for others looking to design creative and cozy rooms for their kids.
