Drake has the type of fondness for warm-weather trips that anyone who grew up in a city with harsh winters will recognize. From the pool photo that went viral to his trip to Turks and Caicos with devotee Jack Harlow, the celebrity rapper knows how to have fun when he’s not working. And that’s precisely what he’s been doing on a vast, headline-grabbing tour throughout Europe in the aftermath of the release of his seventh solo album, Honestly, Nevermind.
Drake has been on a posting binge since landing in Ibiza, uploading shirtless sunbathing pics (read: thirst traps), footage of the luxury boat he and the OVO team are renting, and…some British kid’s meme rap about Love Island. However, such instances pale in contrast to the bizarre narratives that have erupted on social media. On July 14, you most likely noticed the hashtag #FreeDrake somewhere on your page, which sprang from a rumоr that the rapper had been arrested by Swedish police. His staff confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the claim was fake, but the tale was far from over.
In a July 17 Instagram post, Drake uploaded what seemed to be a letter from Swedish police titled “Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained,” which allegedly indicated that he had contact with law officials. Since ASAP Rocky was imprisoned for a month in Stockholm in 2019, rumors of a police encounter prompted worry online. (Drake’s Instagram post also included photographs of his buddies in a club and what looked to be a nice cocktail in a cage, indicating that he wasn’t too bothered by the entire situation.)
With the Sweden matter resolved, Drake traveled to Saint-Tropez in southern France, where he spent time with 21-year-old influencer Suede Brooks on a “yacht hopping” expedition, according to Page Six. It’s unknown whether there’s a love spark there, but the two have known each other for a while and have mutual friends, according to Entertainment Tonight.
