Taylor Swift is most known for her outstanding music career, but with eight mansions spread across four states, she may soon be adding “real estate mogul” to her resume. According to Forbes, the 33-year-old diva, who just concluded the first leg of her record-breаking Eras Tour in the United States, is worth an estimated $570 million, $150 million of which she has invested in real estate.
Swift has progressed from country girl to worldwide pop sensation. Her meteoric career started on a Christmas tree farm in Cumru Township, Pennsylvania, until her family relocated 15 minutes away to a five-bedroom mansion in Wyomissing, just outside of Reading. She initially showed an interest in music and began to play guitar in a Georgian Colonial-style house. Swift persuaded her parents to go to Nashville to pursue her music career when she was 14 years old, and it was there that she made her first formal real estate acquisition, an apartment that she still owns today, in 2009.
Swift has been defying critics ever since, acquiring eight distinct residences ranging from a $150 million penthouse in Manhattan’s TriBeCa area to an 11,000-square-foot historical landmark in California. And there’s no knowing how much more she’ll conquer in the real estate world (or what new songs she’ll write about it) as part of a successful tour that Forbes predicts will make her a billionaire by the end of the year.
WEST VILLAGE APARTMENT, NEW YORK
Swift leased this 1870 brick townhouse, made famous by her song “I Rent a Place on Cornelia Street,” between 2016 and 2017 while her $50 million TriBeCa loft was being renovated. This beautiful home is now on the market for a cool $17.9 million, or it may be rented for $45,000 per month. The facility has four bedrooms, seven baths, and a large indoor pool. Double-height ceilings, historic Parisian brickwork, and a range of spectacular chandeliers are among the luxurious features. Its historic charm combined with contemporary upgrades makes for beyond sumptuous (not to mention expensive) living, and it’s perhaps one of her most gorgeous abodes.
TRIBECA PENTHOUSE, NEW YORK
Swift purchased not one, but two neighboring penthouses in an ancient TriBeCa building at 155 Franklin Street in 2014, transforming them into one big duplex with a total of ten bedrooms and ten bathrooms, a billiards room, and a magnificent arching stairway. The best part? These properties were purchased from Lord of the Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson. According to Page Six, Taylor provided this property to Sophie Turner and her children as a place to reside while she struggled with custody problems after her acrimonious divorce from Joe Jonas. Turner was seen out and about in the area looking “unbothered and incredible,” according to Cosmopolitan. Of course, we would if we lived in this luxurious, prime-location property.
NEIGHBORING TRIBECA TOWNHOUSE, NEW YORK
Swift expanded horizontally three years after acquiring the two TriBeCa penthouses, purchasing the century-old townhouse next door. The property, which has premium features such as a home theater, gym, guest bedroom, and terrace, is believed to be worth $18 million. Leopoldo Rosati, an architect and designer, completely rebuilt it in 1915.
TRIBECA NEW YORK CONDO EXPANSION, NEW YORK
In early 2018, the 12-time Grammy winner paid $9.75 million for a three-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot penthouse on the second level of the same TriBeCa building, significantly increasing her interest in 155 Franklin Street. Jeremy Phillips, a banker, formerly owned the apartment.
BEVERLY HILLS ESTATE, LOS ANGELES
Swift has had three residences in Los Angeles, the most stunning of which is her 1934 Beverly Hills estate, which she acquired in 2015. The 10,982-square-foot mansion, which was formerly owned by film mogul Samuel Goldwyn, is presently being repaired and transformed into a historic monument, a choice Swift made upon acquisition.
WATCH HILL SEASIDE ESTATE, RHODE ISLAND
Taylor Swift’s 12,000-square-foot beach mansion stands atop the highest point of the Rhode Island town, serving as the location for her legendary A-list parties (she’s known for having Fourth of July events here). With seven bedrooms, eight fireplaces, a magnificent pool, and 700 feet of beachfront views, this estate is one of her most remarkable purchases.
BEVERLY HILLS MIDCENTURY MODERN HOME, LOS ANGELES
Swift no longer owns this ranch-style house, which was constructed in 1950s Hollywood with midcentury contemporary elements. The fantastic position, at the foot of lush green hills, offers an open, sunlight-filled house. Despite its modest exterior, the four-bedroom, four-bath house has white vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and, most importantly, a 1,000-bottle, climate-controlled wine cellar. She purchased the house in 2012 and listed it in May of this year. In September, it sold for $2.65 million, $300,000 less than the asking price. Nonetheless, she got $850,000 from the transaction.
GREEK REVIVAL ESTATE, NASHVILLE
Despite Swift’s jet-set lifestyle, she returned to her roots when she purchased her second Nashville house, Northumberland Estate, a huge Greek Revival. The immaculately designed property, which she bought in 2011 for $2.5 million, includes a 5,600-square-foot main house and a 2,000-square-foot guesthouse, as well as vaulted ceilings, herringbone flooring, and marble fireplaces.
