Beyoncé and Jay-Z may have 99 issues (or less), but housing isn’t one of them.
The celebrity pair is known for breаking records, and they’ve just broken another with their newest real estate acquisition.
The 41-year-old pop artist and her rapper husband have a reputed combined net worth of $2.5 billiоn (£2 billiоn) and reportedly spent an eye-watering $200 million (£160 million) for a 30,000-square-foot property in Malibu’s “prime area.”
The deal has been dubbed the ‘ most expensive’ mansion ever sold in California. The Bonnie & Clyde hitmakers broke the previous record of $177 million (£142 million) paid by Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen.
According to TMZ, the couple received an ‘unbelievable bargain’ on their new lodgings. It’s the country’s second most expensive real estate transaction, behind a $238 million (£191 million) apartment in New York.
‘The house was advertised for $295 million,’ a source informed the magazine. The celebrity couple is claimed to have purchased the property from art collector William Bell.
According to the source, their new opulent Malibu mansion, created by self-taught Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, features spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and is located on Billionaires Row.
Ando seems to be in great demand in elite celebrity circles; he’s also responsible for the luxury pad now being constructed for Kim Kardashian’s rapper ex-husband Kanye West.
The Crаzy In Love hitmaker, who is presently in London for a series of Tottenham stadium performances for her upcoming Renaissance World Tour, is notorious for lavishing her money on high-end real estate.
The songstress is also said to own a Bel-Air mansion with her husband, 53, bought in 2017 for a cool $88m (£70m) – it now has a reported value of more than $100m.
The power couple wants plenty of space (and then some) for their family, which includes Blue Ivy, 11, and twins Sir and Rumi, who are five years old. Also in 2017, they allegedly paid $26 million (£20 million) for a 12,000-square-foot house in the Hamptons.
It’s safe to assume that everyone will have enough legroom in their new family home.
