NICKI MINAJ & DRAKE’S ‘PINK FRIDAY 2’ COLLAB WAS ORIGINALLY MEANT FOR ‘FOR ALL THE DOGS’

Nicki Minaj has stated that her Pink Friday 2 duet with Drake was scheduled to be on For All the Dogs.

Last week, the Young Money rapper released the long-awaited follow-up to her 2010 debut album, which includes the song “Needle” starring Drizzy.

Nicki Minaj detailed how the song was locked in for Drake’s new album until the last minute during a guest appearance on Kai Cenat’s Twitch show on Wednesday night (December 13).

‘Needle’ with Drake is — so I didn’t tell anybody this, Kai — originally it was for Drake’s album,” she went on to sаy.

“When I first got it, I was like, ‘I hope something happens and it ends up being on my album,’ because I like it.” Then, just as he was ready to turn in For All the Dogs, Drake gave me two tracks.”

“Anyway, to make a long story short, that same day he also told me, ‘Hey, I’m not using it for the album ’cause it doesn’t fit the sonic vibe,” she stated. ‘Would you like it?’

“Not only is it a Һit, but it also brings back memories of Dricky [Drake and Nicki].” The song is so Drake, it can only be done by Drake. And it reminds me of when we worked together on ‘Moment 4 Life,’ which was released on Pink Friday 1. So call out to him.”

Drake first confirmed his collaboration with Nicki Minaj at the Detroit leg of his It’s All a Blur Tour in July.

“I’m gonna give away one thing for you tonight because I got a lot of love for Detroit,” he told the crowd. “I’m going to have to tell you that Nicki Minaj and I did our first song together in a long time.” I have a lot of feelings for her.”

Nicki Minaj & Drake's 'Pink Friday 2' Collab Was Originally For 'For All The Dogs'During a TikTоk livestream in August, Nicki expressed nostalgia for their early Young Money days.

“The song I did with Drake recently definitely put me in the feels, like when we used to be doing Nicki Minaj TV on the Lil Wayne tour and stuff,” she said. “Fun times, right?”

Later, Nicki Minaj said that fans would “love” the song and that she was eager for Drake’s contribution on Pink Friday 2.

“I know the world is going to love the song, and that’s all I’m going to sаy about that,” she told Zane Lowe of Apple Music. “But, no, Zane, Barbz, make sure you tell Drizzy Drake that Pink Friday 2 is also coming out on November 17.” And we’re still waiting for his participation.”

On October 6, Drizzy’s For All the Dogs was released sans “Needle,” opening the door for it to appear on Nicki’s album.
