Before today, there were no indications that Lil Wayne was in any way associated with TIDAL; however, his investment in the company is now more evident than ever. “Glory,” ostensibly the inaugural single from his Free Weezy album, was made available exclusively on the streaming service earlier today. Reportedly, he is now the newest co-owner of the company.
He is “joining the streaming service as an artist owner,” according to Consequence of Sound, which cites a press release from TIDAL employee Vania Schlogel in which she writes:
“The addition of Lil Wayne to TIDAL is a tremendous honor.” His urgency to schedule a TIDAL X performance and release an exclusive TIDAL track is further evidence of how much artists care about distributing their music to fans.
Uncertain as to whether or not this will impact his ongoing effort to leave Cash Money, anticipate additional Weezy x TIDAL content shortly.
