In 2021, Kanye West paid $57.3 million for a modest beachfront Malibu estate that Ando had constructed. Kim Kardashian previously disclosed that she and Ando were collaborating on a “dream project” this spring.
The residence was commissioned by William and Maria Bell, art collectors and members of the soap opera dynasty that established The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Maria Bell referred to the structure as “dazzling” and “spectacular,” but she told the Wall Street Journal, “It is also intimidating to consider living in something that may appear Brutalist to some.”
