Le Maison&Objet célébrera ses 30 ans en janvier 2024. On this occasion, the salon unveiled a new theme, “TECH EDEN,” which is connected to the futuristic world of environmentally friendly installations. La trentième édition du salon, qui proclamera Mathieu Lehanneur designer de l’année, se déroulera du 18 au 22 janvier. This last one, the author of the most recent Olympic and Paralympique torch news, was chosen to conduct the Maison&Objet stage.
With a strong connection to science and technology, Mathieu Lehanneur imagined a futuristic notion of habitat in this setting. Inspired and intrigued by survivalist theories, the designer wanted to reframe them into an optimistic paradigm: the “Outonome” house, a monotone yellow cabin designed to live entirely independently.
However, in contrast to survivalist theories, the “Outonome” project is based on the relationship with environment and the beneficial effects it provides. « L’idée était d’utiliser les intelligences humaines et naturelles », explique-t-elle. Finally, let’s forget about a hypothetical dominance of nature in order to lay the groundwork for a new kind of human-environment cooperation.
