At the Fast X premiere at the Colosseum in Rome, Italy, on Friday, the actor went out with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh. He told ET that she was off “doing responsible things that keep me in line” as he visited the red carpet and spoke with media.
“Yes, indeed, she is the mastermind behind this endeavor,” he quips to Nischelle Turner of ET.
During the premiere, Shariatzadeh looked lovely in a crimson minidress with cape-style sleeves as the duo smiled for photographers. Cena, for his part, completed the ensemble with a plaid blazer and maroon suit.
Regarding the extravagant premiere, he remarked, “We know we have a great movie for you guys, but we just want to make sure you’re in a good mood going into the great movie.” “You’ll be all hopped up on espresso and all sugar-rushed on gelato, and see the Colosseum and then see Fast 10.”
When in Italy, Cena indulged in pizza and spaghetti, remarking, “It was very satisfying.”
He talked about taking his wife along and said, “These events are so fun and I think it’s much more fun when you make a date out of it.” “Sometimes it can get busy and sometimes you don’t get enough time for the ones you love.”
The pair married in secret in October 2020 and had a bigger celebration of their union in July 2022.
In addition, Cena talked candidly with ET about Meadow Walker, the daughter of the late Fast legend Paul Walker, who will be making a significant cameo in the next episode.
“She did fantastic,” said Cena. “Anyone in that situation, she might have been a bit nervous and overwhelmed because, you know, cameras will be different — but she was great and, like, trying to do everything perfect and just found her rhythm and relaxed.”
“I was honored to have that moment,” he went on. I’m not blind to that.”
The 24-year-old model-turned-actress talked about how the job came to be, how important the cameo is, and how the Fast family has actually become her family. Meadow posted a picture of herself on Thursday that showed viewers a preview of her appearance on a set monitor in the movie directed by Louis Leterrier.
“I’ve always thought about honoring my dad [in a Fast film] just because it’s such a big part of his life and my life,” Meadow stated to ET. But I was holding out for the ideal opportunity. I wanted it to resemble an Easter egg in that it would be quite little and straightforward. Like, you wouldn’t even notice it if you didn’t know who I was. I am aware that my father would want that. Dad was always very straightforward and humble. I can always tell him that I made my small mark.”
